One of the questions I get most often is, “What is InnerStrife? What does that mean?”
I chose that name a long time ago as a way of reminding myself and expressing to others the battle that is always raging within me.
It is as if there are two starving dogs living within me, always battling for control. One dog is my old sinful capacity – the part of me that wants to embrace my pride and quest after selfish desires. The other dog is my new capacity in Christ – the part of me that is dead to sin, dead to self, and lives for Christ.
Every day, every moment, I am making a choice. Which dog am I going to feed? Which dog am I going to allow to become stronger than the other? Which dog am I going to groom and shape to ultimately win the battle?
That is my inner strife. My prayer is that today, I will choose to honor Christ in all that I do, and remind myself that I am dead to the power that sin has over me, and alive to God in Christ Jesus! (Romans 6:11)
Which dog are you choosing to feed?
